We’ve already had a pretty clear indication that Nintendo’s inevitable DS successor would have at least some form of motion control, and an unspecified third-party studio has now offered some additional confirmation of that, and some downright glowing impressions of the device itself. According to CVG , an “insider” that’s currently using a DS2 development kit says that the DS2 is “genuinely the best thing I think I’ve ever worked with,” and that it has “a ’tilt’ function that’s not dissimilar to iPhone, but does a lot more.” The source further added that The Pokemon Company is getting “special attention” with it (rest easy, everybody), and that Nintendo likely won’t be showing off any hardware at GDC next month. Yeah, that sound you just heard was the rumor mill being cranked up a notch

GeeksPhone One lands in France for a hands-on

Plenty of other Android phones have come and gone since the GeeksPhone One was announced way back in July of last year, but the phone is now finally available in Europe, and the folks at Android France have managed to get their hands on what seems to be one of the first ones. Unfortunately, the device is looking a tad less polished than some of the earlier shots we’ve seen suggested, and the device’s specs don’t seem to have seen any upgrades during its prolonged launch (definitely no Snapdragon here).

Google has offered a price cut to its early termination fee for its Nexus One phone, this device launched January 2010 with Equipment Recovery Fee of $350 and of course an early termination fee by T-Mobile. Well now it seems according to Mobiletor that Google has dropped the price to $150 and any ETF fixed by the carrier, the $350 device recovery fee is a little expensive especially when you add it up with T-Mobile charging for ETF of $150

Motorola: Droid update to Android 2.1 ‘will start to roll out this week’

We knew Android 2.1 was coming for the Droid , but we’ll confess — we didn’t expect it to come this soon. Motorola is now reporting via its official Facebook page that it’s “happy to relay the 2.1 upgrade to Droid will start to roll out this week,” going on to tease that it “will have more information to share on other device upgrades later.” There’s no detail on what the Droid update will entail or whether it’ll roll out to every user this week (we doubt it), but by all indications, this is a promising sign that Moto’s keeping the pedal to the metal, we’d say

Watch Nexus One get built, then beaten mercilessly

This might be the best entry yet in Google’s Nexus One video series . Today’s double feature is marked by the testing and manufacturing of the device, and while the all-white facilities and assembly lines can be interesting in their own right, we love nothing more than seeing just how Google and HTC stress test its labor of love.

Ask Engadget: Best NAS / media streamer combo device?

We know you’ve got questions, and if you’re brave enough to ask the world for answers, here’s the outlet to do so. This week’s Ask Engadget question is coming to us from Felix, who would feel a lot better about his situation in life if he had one certain gadget that could do two certain things. If you’re looking to send in an inquiry of your own, drop us a line at ask [at] engadget [dawt] com.
I am looking for a NAS — 1TB would be good — preferably with WLAN built in, and multi-download BitTorrent capabilities are a must. I’d like a unit that doubles as a media streamer (music and videos), and while I’d prefer to stream over WiFi, I definitely need an HDMI port. If there’s an option with a display on the unit itself, I would love to know about it. Thanks for any input!
We know these multifaceted devices exist, but we also know they aren’t exactly everywhere. For those who’ve bought in, we’d love to hear about your experiences. Do you prefer yours? Are you disappointed with its performance? Don’t lead our man astray, okay?
